This page is for the app LevelUp by newyares, on the App Store and Google Play. You can delete your account in the app at any time, or ask us to delete it by email, without reinstalling the app.
Important
Deleting the app from your phone does not delete your account, and deleting your account does not cancel a LevelUp Pro subscription (see Your subscription).
Delete it in the app
#- Open LevelUp and go to Profile › Settings › Privacy & Data › Delete account. (Settings is the gear icon on your Profile.)
- Read what gets deleted and what we keep.
- Tap Delete my account, then Delete forever to confirm.
Warning
"This permanently deletes your LevelUp account. It happens right away and can’t be undone."
You don't need to contact us, and we don't need to identify you: the app deletes the account it is signed in to. Your account is closed at once: it can't be used any more, and no new requests go to Anthropic for it.
If our servers can't remove all the data straight away, the app tells you "Deletion in progress": "Your account is closed and can’t be used anymore. We’re still removing its data. That finishes on its own, usually within minutes, and we’ll tell you here once it’s done. You’re starting fresh." Our servers keep retrying, at most an hour apart, until the deletion is complete; if one of our systems is down for a while, it can take longer. Once it is complete, the app tells you "Account deleted".
If the app closes or loses its connection while it is deleting, it checks with our servers the next time you open it. If the request reached us, the deletion finishes as described above. If it never reached us, your account is still there and you can delete it again. If anything still looks wrong, email us with the subject "Account deletion request".
A suspended account can be deleted the same way, from the "Account suspended" screen.
Ask us by email, without the app
#If you no longer have the app, or can't open it, email [email protected] with the subject "Account deletion request".
Include your Support ID. You find it in the app under Profile › Settings › Help & Contact (tap it to share or copy it), and on the "Account suspended" screen if your account is suspended. If you ever wrote to us with Email support or Contact support in the app, that email ends with it. It is the surest way for us to find your account: our support team looks the account up by its Support ID and deletes it with the same deletion the app runs.
Please be aware: LevelUp accounts are anonymous. They have no email address, phone number or password, and only the device where it was created can open the account. Without your Support ID or details from the app, we may not be able to tell which account is yours, and then we cannot delete it. Details that can help:
- the nickname you used;
- the titles of quests you created or shared with the community;
- roughly when you started using LevelUp, and whether you used an iPhone or an Android phone;
- if you subscribed to LevelUp Pro, the order number on your Apple or Google receipt.
Details that anyone can see in Explore, like a nickname or a shared quest title, are not enough on their own. We will also ask for something only the account holder can see, for example a screenshot of your Profile screen or the titles of private quests.
Don't send passwords, card numbers or identity documents. Before we delete an account, we ask about something only the account holder can see, so that nobody can delete someone else's account: a Support ID identifies an account but is not a password. We don't ask for your Turkish ID number (T.C. kimlik numarası), because it can't be matched to an anonymous account. If we can't confirm that the account is yours, we tell you and don't delete it.
What happens next
What we do: once we have found the account, we delete it with the same deletion the in-app option runs, so the same data is deleted and kept (listed below), and we reply to confirm. If we cannot find the account, we tell you that too.
How long a request by email takes
#We reply within 5 business days, and we complete the deletion, or tell you why we could not, within 30 days of receiving your request.
We keep your email request and our reply as a record that the request was handled. They are stored in our support mailbox, provided by Google Workspace (location: US), and we have not set a fixed end date for them.
What gets deleted
#These are the same items the app lists under "What gets deleted":
- "Your profile, level, character and skills"
- "Your quests and progress, including the ones you shared with the community"
- "Your comments and likes, and the comments on your quests"
- "Your AI plans, reminders and notifications"
- "Your profile photo"
In more detail, this also removes: your nickname and onboarding answers, your AI consent record, your notification settings and in-app notifications, your push and home-screen widget tokens, your AI plan-writing records, plan suggestions, AI request and usage logs and monthly AI counters, the records of which quests and comments you liked and which quests you joined, the one-way codes of the app installations your account was used from (except a ban marker, see below), and your profile photo files (we hold at most the current photo and the one before it).
Your Support ID is deleted with the account.
Your list of blocked users is deleted, and your account is removed from other people's lists.
Your record of accepting the Community Guidelines (when, and which version) is deleted.
The last nickname that passed the automatic check, which we keep to know whether a name needs checking again, is deleted.
Our service providers. Deletion also reaches the services that hold data for us:
- Firebase Authentication (Google): your anonymous account is deleted.
- Firebase Storage (Google): all your profile photo files are deleted.
- RevenueCat: your customer record (your purchase history linked to your LevelUp account) is deleted.
- Google Analytics for Firebase: the analytics ID on your device is reset, so new activity is no longer linked to the old ID. Events already collected stay in Google Analytics until its retention period ends (see What we keep, and why).
If one of these providers is unavailable when you delete, we record it, try that step again about 20 minutes later and, if it still fails, finish it by hand. Apple and Google keep their own records of your purchases under their own privacy policies.
What we keep, and why
#The app lists the main items under "What we keep, and why". This page lists everything we keep, with more detail, and where it differs from the app this page is the accurate one (see Note on the in-app list).
Device marker
If this device used the free AI plan or the free weekly rebuild preview: a marker for this device, so a new account can’t claim the free AI plan or the free weekly rebuild preview again. It is a one-way keyed code made from your device's installation ID. It contains no name or account details, but it is still tied to the device. If the device never used one of these free offers, no marker is kept.
Why: to give the free AI plan and the free weekly rebuild preview only once per device.
How long: indefinitely.
Ban marker, only if your account was suspended
If your account is suspended when you delete it: "A marker for this device, because this account is suspended: a new account made on it is suspended too." In detail, these are one-way keyed codes of the app installations your account was used from, up to 10. They stay on a ban list without any link to your account, and any LevelUp account that later connects from one of those installations is suspended automatically.
Why: so a suspension can't be avoided by deleting the account and starting a new one.
How long: indefinitely. Your deleted account's suspension can no longer be lifted, so the marker is removed only if we lift the suspension of another account used on that installation, for example a new account the marker suspended, after an appeal. A new account suspended because of this marker isn't reviewed by a person first, but it can be appealed like any suspension (see My account was suspended).
Reports you sent
"Reports you sent, without your name, so moderators can still act on them." Your identity and the details you wrote are removed from them. A report you sent about an AI plan also loses its copy of the plan, and is closed if it is still open. The exception is a Child safety or Intimate images without consent report that wasn't dismissed: it keeps the details you wrote, still without your identity.
Why: so moderators can still act on them and keep a record of moderation decisions.
How long: indefinitely, without your identity.
Reports about you or your content
"Reports others sent about you or your posts, without your name or account, as a record for moderators." Your identity and the details the reporter wrote are removed, and in a report about your account itself, your account ID is replaced by a random one. Reports that were still open are closed. The exception is a Child safety or Intimate images without consent report that wasn't dismissed: it keeps its text and the ID of the reported item, and an open one stays open until it is decided. Who posted the content is then kept only in the evidence copy described below.
Why: as a record of moderation decisions.
How long: indefinitely.
Copies of shared quests others joined
"Copies of your shared quests that others already joined. They’re theirs now and don’t show your name." A copy includes the title and tasks you wrote.
Why: they belong to the people who joined them.
How long: until their new owners delete them or their accounts.
Evidence for child-safety and intimate-image reports
If something you posted, or your account itself, was reported for Child safety or Intimate images without consent: a copy of that content or of your profile (nickname, any previous name and profile-photo link), and of which account it was. A copy of a quest is the whole quest, including its tasks and weekly review answers.
Why: legal hold, as evidence in case authorities ask for it.
How long: while the report is open, and for 1 year after it is acted on. The copy is deleted if the report is dismissed. If the report is still open, the copy stays until it is decided.
Deletion record
A record that your account was deleted: when, from where (the app or our support team) and whether it finished. It is linked to your account only until the deletion is done, normally about 20 minutes after your data was removed. If a step at one of our service providers failed, it also notes your account's ID, which step failed and the error, until that step is finished by a retry or by hand.
Why: to finish the deletion if a step fails, and so the app can ask whether its deletion is complete.
How long: 30 days after the deletion is complete, without your account's ID.
Moderation alert messages
Alerts to our moderators about reports and, where they apply, the automatic check of community text. They carry IDs, the reason and what was done automatically, never the reported content or what the reporter wrote.
Why: so our team sees new reports quickly.
How long: kept in our moderation panel, with no fixed end date.
Usage events in Google Analytics
Usage events already sent to Google Analytics, if analytics was on.
Why: Google keeps them for the period we set.
How long: 14 months after collection.
What was sent to Anthropic
If you used AI plans or weekly rebuilds: what was sent to Anthropic to write them.
If you published a nickname, quests or comments: the texts sent to Anthropic for the automatic check before publishing.
Why: Anthropic's own retention.
How long: up to 30 days. Up to 2 years if flagged under Anthropic's Usage Policy; Anthropic's trust and safety classifier scores up to 7 years.
Server logs
Technical logs: IP address, device type, pages requested and errors (which can include your account's internal ID).
Why: running and securing the service.
How long: we don't store them ourselves. Our hosting provider's live log keeps them for up to about a week.
Note on the in-app list
The app says of both device markers: "It isn’t linked to you." They contain no name or account details, but they are tied to the device, so this page lists them as data we keep. The app also says reports you sent are kept "so moderators can still act on them"; the details you wrote in them are removed, except in child-safety and intimate-image reports that weren't dismissed. It says reports about you are kept "without your name or account"; a child-safety or intimate-image report about your account itself that wasn't dismissed still holds your former account ID as the reported item. Its line on evidence mentions only something you posted; the same copy is kept when your account itself was reported.
What stays on your device
#Deleting your account signs the app out and clears your quests, widget data, notifications and badge, cached images and other account data from the device, and resets the analytics ID. A few app settings stay on the device until you delete the app:
- your app language;
- your Share usage analytics choice;
- the device's installation ID (kept in the iOS Keychain or Android secure storage), which a new account on the same device uses again;
- a random ID the app uses when it sends your weekly review answers.
Deleting the app removes most of them. On iPhone, the installation ID may stay in the Keychain even after the app is deleted.
Until our servers confirm the deletion is complete, the app also keeps a short note about the request, which it uses only to ask whether the deletion has finished.
Your subscription
#"Deleting your account doesn’t cancel LevelUp Pro. If you subscribed, you’ll keep being billed until you cancel it."
Cancel it with your store, before or after you delete your account:
- iPhone or iPad: Settings › [your name] › Subscriptions, choose LevelUp, then Cancel Subscription.
- Android: open the Google Play app, tap your profile icon, then Payments & subscriptions › Subscriptions, choose LevelUp, then Cancel subscription.
- In the app, before deleting: Manage subscription on the Delete account screen, or Profile › Settings › LevelUp Pro.
Cancel before the renewal date, at least 24 hours before it to be safe. Your LevelUp Pro subscription belongs to your Apple or Google account, so if you start a new LevelUp account later with the same store account, you can normally bring Pro back with Restore (see How do I restore LevelUp Pro?).
