Anyone can report content in LevelUp that is illegal, abusive or against our Community Guidelines: you don't need a LevelUp account, and you don't need to be the person affected. This page explains how to report by email, what to include, and what happens next.
Two ways to report
#In the app (fastest if you have LevelUp). Tap the "…" menu on a quest or a comment and choose Report quest, Report comment, or Report followed by the person's name. Pick the reason, add details if you like ("Details (optional)", up to 500 characters), and tap Send report. You stop seeing a quest or comment you reported straight away; reporting a person does not hide their quests or comments from you.
By email (with or without an account). Write to [email protected] with the subject "Content report". The sections below say what to include. For the two most urgent kinds of report, use these subjects so we see them first:
What to include in your email
#The more precisely you tell us where the content is, the faster we can act. Please include:
- Where the content is. Any of: the quest title, the nickname of the person who posted it, the first words of the comment, the quest it was posted under, and roughly when you saw it. A screenshot helps, except for intimate images and anything involving a child (see the sections below: never send those).
- The reason. Pick the closest one from the list below. These are the same reasons as in the app.
- Why it is illegal or harmful. A short explanation in your own words. If you think it breaks a specific law, say which one and in which country.
- How we can reach you. Your name and the email address you are writing from. Your name is optional if you are reporting intimate images shared without consent or child sexual abuse.
- A good-faith statement. For example: "I believe in good faith that the information in this report is accurate and complete."
You can copy these lines into your email and fill them in:
- Where the content is: (quest title, poster's nickname, comment text, date)
- Reason: (one of the reasons below)
- Why it is illegal or harmful:
- My name (optional for intimate-image and child-safety reports):
- I believe in good faith that the information in this report is accurate and complete.
Reasons
| Reason | What it covers |
|---|---|
| Sexual content | Nudity, sexual acts or sexual messages |
| Intimate images without consent | Private or intimate photos or videos shared without the person's OK |
| Child safety | Anything that sexualizes, exploits or puts a minor at risk |
| Self-harm or suicide | Encourages self-harm, suicide or eating disorders |
| Violence or illegal activity | Threats, violence, weapons, drugs or other crimes |
| Dangerous advice | Challenges or tips that could get someone hurt |
| Spam | Ads, scams or repeated junk |
| Harassment or bullying | Insults, threatens or targets someone |
| Hate speech | Attacks people for who they are |
| Something else | Breaks the Community Guidelines another way |
You can also report a nickname that is offensive or pretends to be someone else.
Intimate images shared without consent
#If this happened to you
If intimate images or videos of you, or links to them, were shared in LevelUp without your consent, we will remove them.
- Tell us where they are, not what they show. Do not attach the images. Give the quest title, the poster's nickname or the comment text where they appear or are linked.
- Your name is optional. You can report for yourself or for someone else.
- What we do: as soon as we file your report, the content is normally hidden from everyone. If we confirm it, we remove it and suspend the account that posted it. We keep a secure copy of the content and of who posted it as evidence, while the report is open and for 1 year after we act on it, and we delete that copy if the report turns out to be unfounded. If you are being threatened or blackmailed, you can go to the police or the public prosecutor; we keep the evidence and give it to them when they ask. If you want, we can also pass the evidence we hold to the authorities, in addition to your own complaint. We report it ourselves if the person shown is a child or if someone's life or safety is at risk, and we may report threats or extortion to the competent authorities.
- Stop it spreading elsewhere: StopNCII.org helps stop intimate images being shared on other platforms that take part. It creates a digital fingerprint of the image on your own device; the image itself is not uploaded. It is for images taken when you were 18 or older. For images taken before you were 18, use Take It Down from NCMEC.
LevelUp does not publish photos or videos in community posts in this version, so this mostly concerns text that links to or describes intimate images, and nicknames.
We apply a 48-hour removal process, modelled on the US TAKE IT DOWN Act, for everyone, wherever you live: when we receive a valid request, we remove the content within 48 hours and make reasonable efforts to remove known identical copies. A valid request includes your physical or electronic signature, information that lets us find the content, a statement that you believe in good faith it was shared without consent, and your contact details. For such a request your name and signature are needed, even though they are optional for an ordinary report. We accept requests with these elements by email to [email protected].
Child safety
#Caution
Never send, forward, download or screenshot images or videos that sexualize or exploit a child, not even to us. Doing so can itself be a crime. Describe where the content is instead.
To report anything that sexualizes, exploits or puts a minor at risk:
- In the app, report it with the reason Child safety. It is normally hidden at once. If your account is less than a day old, it isn't hidden by your report alone, but a moderator is alerted at once and it goes to the top of the queue.
- By email, write to [email protected] with the subject "Urgent: child safety". Describe where the content is: the quest title, the poster's nickname, the first words of the comment, and when you saw it. You don't have to give your name.
What we do: the content is normally hidden from everyone as soon as the report is filed, and we keep a secure copy of it and of who posted it as evidence. A person on our team reviews it as a priority. If it is, or may be, child sexual abuse material, we remove it, suspend the account, and report it, with the evidence we kept, to the Turkish public prosecutor or police (and, where another country is involved, to the competent authority there).
You can also report child sexual abuse material directly to a hotline:
- Türkiye: İhbar Web, the reporting line for illegal online content under Law 5651.
- United States: the NCMEC CyberTipline or 1-800-843-5678.
- Other countries: find your national hotline through INHOPE.
If a child is in immediate danger, call your local emergency number (112 in Türkiye and the EU). More: Child safety standards.
Crisis support
#"If someone is in danger right now, contact your local emergency services first."
If a post makes you worried about someone, report it in the app with the reason Self-harm or suicide. If you are struggling yourself, you don't have to go through it alone:
- Türkiye: call 112 in an emergency.
- United States: call or text 988 (988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline), or text HOME to 741741 (Crisis Text Line).
- United Kingdom and Ireland: call Samaritans on 116 123, free, day or night. In the UK you can also text 85258 (Shout).
- EU: call 112 in an emergency.
- Anywhere else: find a free, confidential helpline in your country at findahelpline.com.
The full list by country is in our Community Guidelines.
AI plans
#AI plans in LevelUp are private to you unless you share the quest to the community. If an AI plan in the app suggested something harmful or dangerous, don't follow advice that could hurt you, and:
- tap Report this plan under the plan in the app, or email us at [email protected] with the subject "AI plan report".
Report this plan sits under the AI notice ("AI-generated, may contain mistakes; check before relying on it.") on every plan the AI wrote: when you review a new AI plan, on the plan preview in onboarding, and on the screens that show a rebuilt week. A plan you wrote yourself doesn't have it. The app asks "What's wrong with this plan?" and offers these reasons:
| Reason | What it covers |
|---|---|
| Dangerous advice | Challenges or tips that could get someone hurt |
| Self-harm or suicide | Encourages self-harm, suicide or eating disorders |
| Sexual content | Nudity, sexual acts or sexual messages |
| Violence or illegal activity | Threats, violence, weapons, drugs or other crimes |
| Hate speech | Attacks people for who they are |
| Something else | Wrong, misleading or inappropriate in another way |
You can add details ("Details (optional)", up to 500 characters) and tap Send report. If you pick Self-harm or suicide, the app also shows: "If someone is in danger right now, contact your local emergency services first." A person reviews every plan report; it is never acted on automatically.
What a plan report keeps. So that we can review the plan after it has changed or expired, the report stores a copy of it: the plan's title, category and tasks, where it was made (new quest, onboarding or weekly rebuild), and for a new plan also its language and the extra details you gave the AI; for a rebuilt week, the quest and week it belongs to. The copy and your details are kept with the report, with no fixed end date, and are removed if you delete your account. Please don't write health or medical details in a plan report. More: Moderation and safety in the Privacy Policy.
What happens after you report
#- We confirm we got it. When you report by email, we reply to confirm we received your report, and we file it in the same review queue as reports made in the app.
- Some content is hidden at once. Some reports hide content at once while we review it; the rules are in What we do. Content hidden on reports always goes to a moderator, who can make it visible again; if it's yours and you think it's a mistake, you can appeal (see Appeals).
- A person reviews it. Our target is to review every report within 24 hours of receiving it. Child-safety and intimate-image reports go first.
- We decide. Depending on what we find, we remove or hide the content, remove an offensive nickname (others then see the app's default name, "Adventurer" in English, until the person picks a new one), suspend the account, or, if the report is unfounded, leave the content up. We report illegal content to the authorities when it involves child sexual abuse or exploitation, when someone's life or safety is at risk, or when the law requires it.
- We tell you the outcome. If you reported by email, we reply with what we decided. Reports made in the app get a confirmation in the app, but no outcome message today. If you'd like to know the outcome, email us and tell us what you reported.
We don't tell the person you reported who you are, unless a court or public prosecutor orders us to, or EU law makes it strictly necessary.
If you have the app, you can also block the person: choose Block [name] in the "…" menu on their quest or comment. Neither of you will see the other's quests or comments, and neither of you can comment on the other's. They aren't told, and your report still goes ahead. You can unblock them in Profile › Settings › Blocked Users.
How we handle the personal data in reports: Moderation and safety in the Privacy Policy. If you disagree with a decision we made about your own content or account, see Appeals.
Notices under the EU Digital Services Act
#If you are in the EU, your email can be a notice under Article 16 of the Digital Services Act. A notice should contain:
- a clear explanation of why you think the content is illegal;
- where exactly it is (quest title, poster's nickname, comment text);
- your name and email address, unless the notice concerns child sexual abuse;
- a statement that you believe in good faith that the notice is accurate and complete.
We will confirm receipt and tell you our decision, whether automated means were used, and how you can challenge the decision.
Our single point of contact for users and for EU authorities (Arts. 11 and 12) is [email protected], in English or Turkish. Our full contact details are on the Help & Contact page.
If we restrict your own content, nickname or account, for example when the automatic check refuses a text, you can ask us why and ask a person on our team to look at the decision again, free of charge: see Appeals.
If information gives rise to a suspicion of a criminal offence that threatens someone's life or safety, we inform the law enforcement or judicial authorities of the EU Member State concerned, or Europol.
